About the Society
Formed in 1882, originally called the Earls Colne Flower Show, its chairman, Andrew Crane, has only just retired, after 129 years of faithful service.
Today there is an annual Four Colnes Show that takes place in August. It comprises Fruit & Vegetable, Flowers, Domestic, Craft, Photography and Children’s classes. In 2011 there were around 850 entries, being a record number. Outside, attractions include a Brass Band, Dog Show, many stalls and children’s games and rides, vintage vehicles, refreshments, etc. It is a popular village event and is well attended.
At the beginning of November the ever popular MiniMarket is held in the Village Hall. Individuals and village organisations have items for sale and the event also acts as a Coffee Morning
Throughout the year coach outings are arranged to various places, mostly with a gardening aspect. The annual Christmas Evening is very popular and during the evening cheques are presented to local charities.
